President Biden’s decision to pull the remaining American military personnel from Afghanistan by September 11 opens a window of uncertainty for the stability and future of the country, especially for the Afghan women and the younger generation. Former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and Federica Mogherini, former high representative of the European Union for foreign affairs and security policy, will discuss in a conversation moderated by Stephen Heintz, president and CEO of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, the situation in Afghanistan and how a full range of diplomatic, security, and financial levers can be employed in partnership with the Afghan people to advance an integrated and durable peace and security framework. This discussion will be based on the Trans-Atlantic Charter on Afghan Sovereignty, Security, and Development that is the product of a tri-lateral strategic dialogue organized by the Atlantic Council and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund and co-chaired by Secretary Albright and Federica Mogherini.
This panel is produced in partnership with the Pacific Council on International Policy.
