How can I join, renew or gift a membership?
How long does membership last?
Membership dues are annual and good for 1 year. For example, if you join on January 10, 2012, your membership will expire on January 9, 2013.
Is membership tax deductible?
Yes. The World Affairs Council is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and membership dues are considered a donation, therefore 100% tax deductible.
What levels of memberships are available?

Can people of different households sign up together under one of the dual/family memberships?
No. People must live under the same household to qualify for a dual/family membership.
What can I expect to receive when I become a member?

What if I never received or forgot my username and/or password?
We can email your username and/or password to you. Click here to provide us with the email address that you used to register.
When and how many guest passes do members receive?
Members receive 2-4 guest passes annually when they join or renew their membership. Please visit our Membership Benefits page for details.
Can guest passes be used for off-site events?
Guest passes can be used at off-site events. As a non-member, you will receive member pricing for any off-site event when using your guest pass. Council guest passes may not be used to receive member pricing for conference tickets.
Can guests be registered online with a guest pass?
No. Unfortunately, we cannot register any guests you may bring while using your Council guest pass online. You must call 415.293.4600 or email info@worldaffairs.org to register your guest(s).
What is a Sustaining Member?
A Sustaining Member is a $250 individual membership level, $325 for Dual, who provides an enhanced level of support to the Council as well as receives exclusive benefits. Sustaining Members are guaranteed TWO PREMIUM seats in the first rows at every off-site program we host at the standard member price and receive invitations to exclusive receptions.
What if I want to become a Sustaining Member but my current membership doesn’t expire until 6 months from now?
You can upgrade your existing membership now to receive Sustaining Member benefits immediately and for a full year after your current membership expires. Consider an upgrade today.
Who qualifies for premium seating at off-site events?
Only Sustaining members & members of the Donor Circle can register for premium seating in the first rows at all off-site programs. They register online as a member and the Council will ensure they receive premium seating at our off-site venues. Reserved seating is not available for our onsite programs.
What is Corporate Membership?
Employees of our corporate members receive complimentary membership as a benefit to the member organization. To take advantage of this benefit, ensure your corporation is a corporate member by referencing our current Corporate Partners. Next, email the Membership department from your corporate email account to sign up for complimentary membership and start attending programs.
Can members of other World Affairs Councils attend our events as a member?
Yes. We honor other Councils’ memberships when you visit the Bay Area. However, if you have moved permanently to California, we would kindly encourage you to join the World Affairs Council of Northern California if you want to continue attending events as a member.
