Micah Albert will be sharing images and stories that exemplify his journey on documenting projects, including the global food crisis in Yemen, Dinka cattle camps in South Sudan, insecurity and unrest in Darfur refugee camps in Chad, marginalized youth in the Arab world living in Syria, Jordan and Yemen, gender-based violence in rebel-controlled territories in Democratic Republic of Congo, post-election unrest in Kenya and his recent and award-winning work in the Dandora dump site in Kenya.

Albert is a freelance documentary photographer based in northern California. He specializes in and is passionate about difficult-to-access regions and the ensuing, and often times under-covered, issues that arise in these parts of the world. He is a grantee from the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting. Most recently his photography won the prestigious National Geographic Photo Contest. His clients include The New York Times, Smithsonian Magazine, Los Angeles Times, BBC, The Washington Times, National Geographic and many others.

This event is co-sponsored by the Pacific McGeorge School of Law.
