Policies

We are deeply committed to maintaining a welcoming, safe environment, so we ask that all members, guests and others using our facilities abide by our rules and respect the rights and dignity of others around them. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for the following.

  • Offensive language
  • Acts that can hurt or frighten others
  • Sustained disruption of talks or events

In the unfortunate and unlikely event any of these occur, the offender may be asked to leave.

In special circumstances, World Affairs may serve alcohol at events, but it is otherwise not allowed, and guests may not bring in any food or drinks for personal consumption during events.

To promote the well-being of all at our events, we request that all security and safety instructions be followed.

Please note that if these rules are violated, this may result in the suspension or termination of membership or guest privileges.  World Affairs reserves the right to deny access or membership to any person for any reason and at any time.

These policies apply to members and guests attending programs hosted by World Affairs in our San Francisco headquarters. Members and guests attending programs hosted by World Affairs’ regional chapters, or co-hosted or co-presented by us but located at a separate location, may be subject to different policies.

Registration and Ticketing

  • All members and guests must check in with the registration staff upon arrival.
  • We do not issue hard copy or electronic tickets. If you have pre-registered for an event, your name will appear on our registration list. We may request that both members and guests identify themselves with proper identification.
  • We reserve the right to make exceptions to our check-in policy to meet the special needs of members and guests.
  • For members who have registered a guest, please arrive with your guest. Without you present, guests may be asked to pay the non-member fee.
  • Most events held on World Affairs premises are free for members, but some of them, whether at World Affairs or offsite, will carry a special member fee.
  • Staff members and volunteers are available to assist all attendees; please let them know if you need help.

Non-Member Event Registration

  • Simply go to the Upcoming Programs page for individual programs and register. We look forward to seeing you there.

Cancellations and Refunds

  • World Affairs can only issue refunds up to 48 hours before an event.
  • Tickets are non-transferrable.
  • Questions, or need to request a refund? Please email communications@worldaffairs.org.
