The World Affairs Council of Sacramento seeks highly dedicated individuals interested in helping to build a nonpartisan international affairs nonprofit organization.
Please note that all internship positions are unpaid. College credit may be arranged in some cases.

Graphic Design
Duties and activities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Working with staff and researching other World Affairs Councils to gain an understanding of how graphic design and marketing can be used effectively to advance our mission. You will be responsible for designing flyers, brochures, invitations, membership cards, editing photos, and updating the design of our website.
The ideal candidate should possess:
Excellent graphic design talent
Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, In-Design, etc.)
Knowledge in other graphic, media, and web design programs a plus
Knowledge of the printing industry in order to ensure cost-effective printing
Ability to work within a deadline
Strong time-management skills
Resourcefulness
The ability to work effectively on a team as well as independently
Ability to keep track of details
Requirements:
A commitment of at least 16 hours per week for at least 1 semester or 1 quarter
A genuine interest in world affairs
Professional attire and a positive attitude
Computer Programmer
Duties and activities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Updating and expanding our existing web-based MySQL database. Converting digital audio and video media to web format and uploading that media onto our server. Maintaining our website. Working with staff to ensure that the Council is using technology effectively in order to advance our mission.
The ideal candidate should possess:
Strong proficiency in MySQL, PHP, Javascript, and HTML
Knowledge in other relevant database, media, and web design computer programming languages a plus
Ability to work within a deadline
Strong time-management skills
Resourcefulness
The ability to work effectively on a team as well as independently
Ability to keep track of details
Requirements:
A commitment of at least 16 hours per week for at least 1 semester or 1 quarter
A genuine interest in world affairs
Professional attire and a positive attitude
Program Intern
Duties and activities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Coordinating community programs, including executing outreach and marketing initiatives, booking venues, event registration, and speaker correspondence. Drafting and editing program descriptions and other written material, for example, press releases, brochures, website, and letters to donors and members. Database entry. Working on special projects as needed.
The ideal candidate should possess:
Excellent reading, writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
Strong computer skills.
Good internet research skills
Resourcefulness
The ability to work effectively on a team, as well as, independently
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to focus on details.
