FILM SCREENINGA Whisper to a Roar: Democracy Activism Around the World
"A Whisper to a Roar" presents the story of pro-democracy activism from five countries around the world that have had well documented protests or revolutions for leadership change – Egypt, Malaysia, Ukraine, Venezuela and Zimbabwe. Documenting the personal work of activists in various stages of the process, from student leaders and protest organizers to elected leaders and opposition candidates, this film promotes the narrative that the thirst for freedom and accountable government is universal and that democracy is not just a Western concept.
A post-film discussion will take place with Director Ben Moses and Executive Producer Larry Diamond, whose book “The Spirit of Democracy” influenced the main ideas for the film.
