America’s Growing Inequality: A Conversation with a Nobel Laureate in Economics
Speaker: Dr. Joseph Stiglitz

Although the United States faces difficult economic and foreign policy issues
right now, during the 1950's far starker fears were faced, with the onset of the
nuclear age, a hostile and powerful Communist bloc, a still economically
devastated Europe, and a population boom worldwide that looked like it would
outrun our resources. President Eisenhower, supported by the good will he had
generated at home and abroad through his extraordinary leadership during World
War II, forged ahead with bi-partisan leadership and put the country over party
to launch the interstate highway system, to end the Korean War, to defuse the
Suez crisis, and to keep the lid on the simmering Cold War. Daniel Sharp, CEO of
The Eisenhower Foundation, will discuss how that legacy might be applied to
today's issues.
