Curbing Illicit Trafficking Operations: Remarks by SOUTHCOM Commander, General Douglas Fraser

US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) is one of nine unified Combatant Commands in the Department of Defense. Its area of responsibility encompasses Central America, South America and the Caribbean. SOUTHCOM is a joint command comprised of more than 1,200 military and civilian personnel representing the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and other federal agencies. One of SOUTHCOM's primary missions is to counter illegal activities associated with illicit trafficking. General Fraser will discuss SOUTHCOM's key initiatives, with a focus on efforts to curb drug trafficking and weaken transnational criminal organizations.
