Our Heritage

Founded in 1947 following the San Francisco conference that established the United Nations, the Council’s heritage is one we take very seriously. We embrace the commitment to provide a forum where leaders of all sectors can join more than 18,000 engaged community participants to engage on issues of international importance. Each of us is aware of the ways in which international issues touch upon our daily lives.

In the past decades, the Council has hosted hundreds of foreign heads of states, and thousands of leading government officials, journalists and intellectuals, each of whom reminds us of the ways in which we can influence and are affected by international events.

The World Affairs Council of Northern California is a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization.
